Table & services

The market, the sea, the cook composes.

There is no menu at El Manzar's table d'hôtes: family-style Moroccan cooking, local and homemade — vegetables from the market, produce from the sea — following the cook's inspiration of the day. Lunch at midday if you wish; in the evening, the table is set by the wood stove.

The table d'hôtes

What the market gives,
what the sea brings back.

Simple cooking, from fresh and local produce — the table follows the light of the day.

Breakfast

Served facing the lagoon, on whichever terrace already has the sun — morning bread and pancakes, fruit, mint tea. Below, the fishermen's boats go out with the tide.

Lunch

Lunch can be served at midday — vegetables from the market, produce from the sea, in the big open kitchen or in the shade of the garden, beneath the datura.

Dinner by the stove

As evening falls, the table is set in the large living room, around the black wood stove — the day's dish shaped by what came back from the market, the lagoon fading behind the bay windows.

On the lagoon

At the path's end, the beach and the boats.

From the terrace, a little path winds down between broom and eucalyptus to the beach, where you can swim. Small boats wait for a drift across the lagoon's waters — picnics on the sandbanks, or oysters and crabs straight from the local oyster farmers.

A boat on the lagoon

A small boat carries you across the calm waters of the lagoon, between the oyster beds and the sandbanks.

Fishing

Sea bream and sea bass, on the line, from the boat or along the banks of the estuary.

Horseback on the beach

A gentle ride along the immense white sandy beach, at the ocean's edge.

The Oualidia caves

A visit to the famous caves carved into the coast, a stone's throw from the village.

Hikes

Off the beaten track, in the surrounding countryside — half a day, a full day or a circuit.

You go down at low tide —
you come back up at sunset.
