Oualidia · The simplicity of luxury
A simple, honest house, at the lagoon's edge.
Three suites and two rooms overlooking the Oualidia estuary — from the terraces, the lagoon, the oyster beds and the royal forest; a eucalyptus path leads down to the beach.
The house
A chic, authentic house,
set high above the lagoon.
Nestled in the heart of Oualidia’s ancient Saadian kasbah, El Manzar overlooks the famous lagoon from its privileged position, just above the former summer palace of King Mohamed V. Three suites and two rooms — each with its own personality and white tadelakt bathroom — are arranged around the living spaces and the terraces.
A large living room with a wood stove, home cinema and library; an open kitchen where homemade meals are shared; a flowering garden shaded by a century-old datura. And, on the lagoon side, several terraces facing the estuary, the oyster beds and the royal forest — a eucalyptus path leads down to the beach.

Rooms & suites
Three suites, two rooms,
each with its own character.
White tadelakt, private terraces, views over the lagoon or the flowering garden — five ways to live in the house.
Table & services
The life of the house, to the rhythm of the tides.
Family-style Moroccan cooking, local and homemade — market vegetables and produce from the sea, prepared to order. Lunch at midday if you wish; dinner by the wood stove as evening falls, following the cook's inspiration.
In the evening the table is set —
by the stove, or facing the sunset over the lagoon.
The objects of the house
The garden, medina side
Before you, the lagoon; at the path's end, the beach.
Up on the roofs, the terraces unfold facing the estuary, the oyster beds and the royal forest — loungers beneath shade sails, mint tea, dinners at sunset. A eucalyptus path leads down to the beach: a boat to drift across the lagoon, line-fishing for sea bream, picnics on the sandbanks, oysters straight from the oyster farmers.

The collection
Chez Sophie, houses to live in.
In 1995, Sophie Raynal, then an architecture student at the Beaux-Arts de Paris, fell in love with Morocco during a trip to Marrakech. She undertook the renovation of several houses in Marrakech, Oualidia and Tangier, guided by a demand for authenticity — a true aesthetic vision.
Sophie is no longer with us, but she passed on to her family and her team the values born of her sensitivity and her humanism. All of this, you will feel during your visit.
